How did I get here again?……
Although at this moment in time it may seem like it…. I am not the sole contributor to the MRG!
In fact, I was a late comer to the world of making reality great! Whilst I was busy bouncing a ball up and down a court in baggy kit and wrist bands trying to be Michael Jordan, Dan the Man was ‘Theeeee Mighty Ray Gun’ taking amazing pictures of mountain bikers and taxiing his son (Damian) all over the place to race them himself….
The Mighty Ray Gun was a brand… With a presents at races, a website visit by thousands and T-shirts with ‘rad’ extreme sports slogans that you could buy with your money! Desperate Dan, Damian and his mate Colin were the brains and the fun behind the whole thing.
This edit made with Jurassic video cameras pretty much sums up the MRG back in the day before I even knew the main men Damian and Colin…. The original Pure Mountains trip
Since this they re visited the guys at Pure mountains, and I got to go with them!!! Theeeee best MTB holiday, with theeeee best guides and hospitality ever! Pure Mountains 2014
I was an accidental addition to the team…. A Facebook group of mountain bikers led me to Wales on a group ride which was where I met them for the first time. I was NOT and MTB’er and a wolly! Not making a great impression, rocking up with no coat on a typical, wet cold Welsh, winters day. But nether the less as the adventure unfolded we all got on, and had an epic day riding bikes!
Time went on and we continued to ride, accumulating in us entering the infamous BikeFest at Ashton Court in Bristol. Subsequently coming 3rd in our 6 hour category! The guys taught me like a Jedi apprentice and it paid off!
But life is mental, and as time has passed… Kids, dogs, new jobs, new houses…. etc, etc…. Colin has left the mountain biking alone and become WAY too busy with work and life, I’ve become hooked, and ride every chance I have (Which in reality is once a week if I’m lucky lol) and Damian when life permits. But one thing ticks over in the foreground….. The MRG! Now those that have followed us for a while will know that Dan sadly passed away, but he lives on in the fun that we have, and the new friends and followers that the MRGMagazine continues to gain week in week out…. And we hope that we continue to enspire people to Make Reality Great!
Ill leave you with a picture of us with Tony Williams of Evolve MTB, spending the day taking a bunch of kids who needed a break in life mountain biking… YESSSSSSSSSSS
